Universal Audio has impressed me a great deal. I purchased a DelVerb effects pedal some time ago, and that pedal has been by far one of the best pedals I’ve own in my 35 years of making music/sound. The ambient opportunities it offers while using it with my modular synth setup or in any chain configurations with my loop pedal and guitars is fantastic. I really enjoy their hardware.
After the purchase of the pedal I noticed they offered some VST/VST3 plugins for DAWs (Digital Audio Workstation), and of course in the good old fashion way of commerce, they offered a good price for a starter bundle including a Moog Synth plugin and several effects. My impulsiveness could not be quelled, and I made the purchase.
This morning, after years of ignoring most of their promotional emails, sales events and so on, I found that I needed to update my plugins to newer versions. I was excited to find a free bundle available that included Luna, Universal Audio’s DAW. I’m not sure if, like Ableton Live (my current DAW), a free version Luna limits you to only a few tracks (8 tracks in Ableton), but from a quick walk through of their tutorial, it seems promising in a number of ways. I’m planning to do some soundscapes this weekend. And I’m thinking of giving this New DAW a try.
